Krypton-85 method for measuring leak conductance (in German)

Journal Article · · Vacuum, v. 23, no. 12, pp. 435-440
OSTI ID:4326362

The leak conductance of hermetically sealed containers was determined by exposing the components to an external excess pressure of the radioactive test gas/sup 85/Kr. Subsequently, the quantity of gas which permeates into the capsules is measured via the activity of the samples. Assuming reasonable leak dimensions the conductance can be applied to different gases and other pressures. e.g., to air at atmospheric pressure. Errors involved and limitations of the method are discussed. (auth)
