POLARIZATION OF CONVERSION ELECTRONS FOLLOWING $beta$ DECAY

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters
The beta particle polarization analysis entails conversion of longitudinal to transverse polarization and the consequent loss of intensity. An alternative procedure which may offer some advantages, particularly for beta transitions followed by moderately low-energy conversion electrons, is discussed. This involves the measurement of the polarization of the conversion electrons in coincidence with the beta. (W.D.M.)
