Preparing the nuclear power plant Goesgen-Daeniken (in German)
The nuclear power plant Goesgen-- Daeniken is one of the three out of eight Swiss reactor projects, for which a main supplier has already been determined. At the end of February 1973, the Kernkraftwerk Goesgen- Daeniken AG has signed a letter of intent, entrusting the German Kraftwerk Union AG (KWU) to deliver a turn-key nuclear power plant with the Siemens pressurized water reactor. The power of the reactor should be 963 MW(e) gross, respectively 920 MW(e) net. After having rejected several objections raised against the construction of this power plant, the Government of the canton Solothurn gave the permission to start preparatory construction works including the lowering of underground water, and for taking and returning of cooling water with wet cooling towers.
