Title: RESEARCH ON GROWING OF CADMIUM SULFIDE CRYSTALS FOR DOSIMETER PURPOSES. Quarterly Report No. 2 for period July 17, 1957 to October 17, 1957

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4323711

Progress is reported in the development of a method of growing cadmium sulfide crystals with properties suitable for their incorporation into an electrically simple direct current instrument for measuring nuclear radiations. Fourteen runs were carried out during the period which resulted in production of single crystals of cadium sulfide. Studies were made on the effects of crystal purity, doping materials, infrared quenching, crystal size and homogeneity, and light and dark resistivities of the crystals on the sensitivity of the crystals to gamma rays. (For preceding period see NP-6461.) (C. H.)
