Secondary deuterium isotope effects in the Baeyer-Villiger reaction

Journal Article · · Journal of the American Chemical Society

Observed isotope effects for the Baeyer- Villiger reaction of PhCD2 COCH3 (D2), PhCH2COCD (D3), and PhCD2COCD3 (D are reported. The isotope effect on the migrating group is smaller than expected; the general trend predicts a larger per deuterium isotope effect for RCH2 than for CH3.
