CORROSION TESTING OF ZIRCALOY-2 AND ZIRCALOY-3

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4311892· OSTI ID:4311892
Zircaloy-2 and Zircaloy-3 have found extensive applications in water cooled and moderated reactors due to their excellent corrosion properties in high- temperature water and steam. These excellent corrosion properties are inherent in the alloys; however, the corrosion behavior in high-temperature water and steam is greatiy influenced by sample surface preparation and the manner in which the test is conducted. This report is concerned with the external factors influencing the corrosion behavior of the zirconium alloys. (A.C.)
