SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC AND ELECTRICAL CONDUCTANCE STUDIES ON CHELATE FORMATION OF URANYL ION WITH AMMONIUM AURINTRICARBOXYLATE

The formation of a colored chelate between uranyl ion and aminoniunm aurintricarboxylate with lambda /sub max/ at 540 m mu has been reported. The chelate has a composition of 1: 1. The formation constant at 25 d C is 5.9 plus or minus 0.5 x 10/sup 4/, and the free energy of formation --6.51 plus or minus 0.05 kcal at the same temperature. (auth)
