In health physics in the healing arts. The total lymph node irradiation technique using gamma or highenergy x radiation for the treatment of Hodgkins disease has greatly increased the survival rate of patients, a significant number of whom are in the child-bearing age. Methods for the reduction of the radiation dose to the gonads and for protection of the fetus during radiotherapy are discussed. (CH)
