HEAT FLUX AT BURNOUT IN STAGNANT WATER

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4309516
The heat flux required to melt vertical tubes of stainless steel, submerged in stagnant water at atmospheric pressure, was measured as the temperature of the ambient water was varied from 10 to 100 deg C. The heat flux in Pcu/ hr-ft/sup 2/ was correlated by (Q/A)/sub Burnout/ = 204,000 + 3,900 DELTA t where DELTA t is tbe difference between the normal boiling point and the temperature of the ambient water.
