From 3rd Health Physics Society midyear topical symposium; Los Angeles, California, USA (29 Jan 1969). See CONF-690103-P3. Four separate radiation accidents at NUMEC's Plutonium Plant are described. Two involved exploding glove boxes, one was a hand amputation in a plutonium milling machine box and the fourth was an uncontrolled release of /sup 192/Ir aerosol from a shielded hot cell. Each incident presented unique radiation monitoring problems and the experiences led to a revision of emergency plans. Handling of exposed and injured individuals, and recovery techniques are also discussed. (auth)
