NUCLEAR POWERED GAS TURBINES FOR LIGHT-WEIGHT POWER PLANTS

The suitability of closed-cycle gas turbine power plants in combination with various types of nuclear reactors is examined. Typical examples of both a heterogeneous and a homcgeneous reactor power plant are presented. Weight, cost, and performance are compared for various possible fluids over a range of temperature and pressure. Comparisons are made with alternative heat engine systems. ( auth)
