LIFETIME OF THE FIRST ROTATIONAL STATE OF Gd$sup 15$$sup 6$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
The half life of the 89-kev state of Gd/sup 156/ has been measured by means of a fast-slow coincidence circuit From the observed value T/sub 1/2 = (1.9 plus or minus 0.1) x 10/sup -9/ sec the reduced E2 transition probability can be calculated. One finds B(E2; I/sub o/ yields I/sub f/): e/sup 2/ = (5.1 plus or minus 0.3) x 10/sup -48/ cm/su p 4/ in good agreement with the Coulomb excitation result of Ramsak et al. (auth)
