HALF-LIVES OF TWO EXCITED STATES OF Gd$sup 15$$sup 6$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
The half lives of the 1507 kev and 89 kev excited states of Gd/sup 156/ were measured with a fast time-toamplitude converter. The half life of the 1507 kev 4+ state is (1.88 plus or minus 0.10) x 10/sup -10/ sec. The half life of the 89 kev first rotational state is (2.19 plus or minus 0.07) x 10/sup -9/ sec, differing slightly from a previous measurement. The new value leads to a reduced transition probability for the reverse (Coulomb excitation) process B(E2) - e/sup 2/ = (4.64 plus or minus 0.20) x 10/sup -48/ cm/sup 4/. (auth)
