THE EFFECTS OF CONCOMITANT SUPERFICIAL X-RADIATION UPON THE LETHAL EFFECTIVENESS OF 250 KVP X-RAYS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4307043
The effects of adding large doses of poorly-penetrating x ray-s to doses of 250 kvp x rays in the lethal range are described. Doses of 1000 r or 3000 r of 50 kvp radiation only slightly reduce the amount of 250 kvp radiation required to kill dogs, and that reduetion can be explained on the basis of the amount of the soft x rays which reach the midline. It may he concluded that in predicting radiological hazard from mixed superficial and penetrating radiations only the penetrating dose need be measured. (auth)
