Radiative meson decays in a quark-oscillator model

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D, v. 8, no. 11, pp. 3875-3881
One- and two-photon decays of meson resonances are calculated in a quark- osccillator model using a nonrelativistic interaction Hamiltonian and vector dominance. Harmonic-oscillator wave functions are assumed for l = 0 and l = l resonances (e.g., pi , p and A/sub 2/, f, respectively). The calculations in general are sensitive to the value of the well-width parameter a/sup 2/. Good agreement with experiment is obtained for decays of low-lying states (such as pi /sup o/ and n) and for the decay A/sub 2//sup P yields pi /sup plus or minus / + gamma ( GAMMA (predicted) = 0.4-0.6 MeV!. The calculated width for the decay f(1260) yields gamma gamma is less than that predicted by Kunzst et al, on the basis of a phenomenological Lagrangian by a factor of 3 or more. (auth)
