>The use of the physical and chemical scale causes much time to be spent in relating one scale to the other for many measurements. C/sup 12/ is proposed as the base of a unified scalc. The unit of mass using this base is 318 millionth higher than the present physical scale and 43 millionth higher than the chemical scale. The advantages of this scale are discussed. (J.S.R.)
