A FURTHER EXAMPLE OF AN ANOMALOUS K$sup +$-DECAY

Journal Article · · Nuovo Cimento (Italy) Divided into Nuovo Cimento A and Nuovo Cimento B
OSTI ID:4301871
In a systematic study of K/sup +/ meson secondaries, one example has been found in which the charged product is a pi meson of 61.7 Mev. This must be compared with the example published by the Columbia group in which the pi - meson energy was 60 Mev. Both are probably due to the decay mode: K/sup +/ yields pi /sup +/ + pi /sup 0/ + gamma although the possibility that they belong to a two body decay mode: K/sup +/ yields pi /sup +/ + X/sup 0/, where X/sup 0/ is a neutral boso n and has a mass of (500 plus or minus 5) m/sub e/, should not be overlooked. A description of the event is given and the interpretation discussed. (auth)
