DETERMINATION OF THE TOTAL CROSS SECTION FOR THE D(d,n)He$sup 3$ REACTION IN THE ENERGY REGION 20-220 kev

>Measurements of the cross section for the D(d,n)He/sup 3/ reaction in the deuteron energy range 20 to 220 kev in thick targets of heavy ice are reported. The neutron yields obtained are tabulated, graphed, and compared with the results of other workers. The values of the cross sections computed from empirical formulas agree with the experimental values to within plus or minus 5%fl. (j.S.R.)
