THE ION EXCHANGE-EXCER PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF METAL GRADE UF$sub 4$ FROM CRUDE URANIUM SOURCES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4299196
Discussions of the Higgins countercurrent exchanger for partially purifying crude product and an ion exchange conversion of crude uraninium solutions to U0/sub 2/F/sub 2/ with subsequent electrolytic reduction to UF/sub 4/ are presented, with the emphasis on production of high-purity metal at the unranium ore mill site. The process may be divided step wise into anion exchange isolation, cation conversion, and electrolytic reduction. (J.R. D.)
