EFFECTIVE CROSS SECTION FOR THE Be$sup 9$(n,$alpha$)He$sup 6$ REACTION

In the measurement of the Be (n, alpha )He/sup 6/ reaction cross section, specially fabricated photoemulsions, containing a powder ( approximately 1 UPSILON ) of spectrally pure Be, were used. The eurulsions were exposed to neutrons from a lithium target bombarded by 4-Mev deuterons. The results of the measurements for 1- to 7-Mev neutrons are tabulated. (j.S.R.)
