DELAYED EFFECTS OBSERVED IN RATS SUBJECTED TO A SINGLE DOSE OF X-RAYS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4290006

Data are reported which indicate that the shortening of the survival time in animals irradiated with a dose of 600 r (LD50/3O) over the whole of the body is a consequence of various mechanisms. It is suggested, following partial irradiation of the head, of the thorax, and of the abdomen with increasing doses of x rays, that these mechanisms may be ascribed to lesions or functional alterations of the tissues of organs of the head, thorax, and abdomen.
