MICROAUTORADIOGRAPHICAL TESTS WITH LABELLED RADIATION-PROTECTIVE SUBSTANCES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4289157
Results are reported from studies on the mechanism of the protective action of sulphydryl compounds against radiation injuries. The possibility of the protective action being mediated through topographical or functional action is considered. The distributions of cysteine-sulfur-35 and thiourea-sulfur-35 were determined by micro-autoradiographic techniques following injection in mice. Data are tabulated. Activity was demonstrated in the nuclei of cells from liver, spleen, and kidney, but not in pancreas and thymus. (C.H.)
