Test and analysis of metods of detecting BETA -ray airborne activity due to fission gases are described. The need for some simple airborne activity detector a detect radioactive gases has been brought about by the smidgeon problem on S3G and S4G. A recommendation is made for a particular type of instrument to be installed in living quarters and in the engine rooms of S4G. (auth)
