THE DIFFUSION AND SOLUBILITY OF HYDROGEN IN THE ALPHA-PHASE ZIRCALOY-2

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4275121
The diffusion of hydrogen ofn thc alpha-phase of Ziroaloy-2 was measured in the tcmperature range 260 to 560 deg C using the gradient technique. The diffusion coefficient was found to be D = 2.17 x 10/sup -3/ exp(-8,380/ RT) cm/ sup 2//sec. The terminal solid solubility of hydrogen in Zircaloy-2 was determined in the temperature range 260 to 650 deg C using a modification of the gradient technique. The solubility is given by C/sub o/ = 8.50 x 10/sup 4/ exp (- 7600/RT) ppm H/sub 2/ by weight. (auth)
