SOLUBILITY AND DIFFUSION OF HYDROGEN IN ZIRCONIUM (in Japanese)

Journal Article · · Nippon Kinzoku Gakkaishi (Japan)
OSTI ID:4112367
The solubility of hydrogen in zirconium was determined as a function of temperature (range: 500 to 900DEC) and pressure (range: 10/sup -3/ to 30 mm Hg). The diffusion coefficients for hydrogen in alpha -zirconium (range: 450 to 700DEC) and in beta -zirconium (range: 870 to ll00DEC) were calculated by the diffusion-annealing methed, which consisted of annealing the diffusion couples of different hydrogen contents in lead bath and analyzing the hydrogen gradients across the diffusion zone. The calculated diffusion coefficients of hydrogen in alpha - and beta -zirconium are expressed, respectively, as: D alpha = 4.15 x 10/sup -3/ exp (-9470/RT) cm/sup 2//sec (450 approximately 700 deg C) and D beta = 7.37 x 10/sup -3/ exp (-8540/RT) cm/sup 2//sec (870 approximately - ll00 deg C).
