ACTIVITY IN THE COOLING AGENTS OF REACTORS AND THE DETECTION OF ESCAPE OF FISSION PRODUCTS (in French)

An investigation is made on the detection of ruptures in fuel claddings by methods utilizing the BETA , gamma , or neutron activity of fission products appearing in the liMid coolant from the rupture. The circumstances of the attack on the fuel by the coolant, the process of the appearance and development of the rupture, and the nature and quantity of the flssion products escaping are defined first. A comparative examination of the possibilities of detection by means of different fission nuclides is made. (tr-auth)
