POLARIZATION OF PROTONS FROM C$sup 12$(d,p)C$sup 13$ REACTION WITH DEUTERONS OF 1060 kev

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
The polarization of protons from the C/sup 12/(d,p)C/sup 13/ reaction was measured for a deuteron energy of 1060 kev at angles 20 and 140 deg . Elastic scattering by carbon was used to analyze tbe polarization. Nuclear emulsions were used as the proton detector. The observed magnitude of the polarization was found to be P = 54.3 plus or minus 9.5% at 20 deg and P = 29.4 plus or minus 12.6% at 140 deg . Positive sign of the polarization corresponds to the vector product K/sub p/ x K/sub d/. (auth)
