THE SPECTROGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF TRACE AMOUNTS OF LITHIUM IN URANIUM TETRAFLUORIDE

The carrier distillation method of analysis of uranium and its compounds has been found satisfactory for the determination of lithium in uranium tetrafluoride. Known amounts of lithium have been added to samples of uranium tetrafluoride followed by conversion to the black oxide (U/sub 3/O/sub 8/). The oxide has been examined spectrographically by the above method and satisfactory recoveries of lithium have been obtained. (auth)
