Procedures for the preparative treatmert required for a variety of uranic compounds prior to spectrographic examination for impurity elements are described. To provide complete analytical procedures, the method must be used in conjunction with the following analytical methods: the spectrographic analysis of uranium metal by the carrier distillation method: the spectrographic determination of aluminium in U/sub 3/O/sub 8/; and the spectrographic determination of calcium in uranium metal. The method covers the treatment of uranium dioxide in powder or pellet form, uranium tetrafluoride, uranyl fluoride, uranyl nitrate solution, ammonium diuranate, and the solution arising from the hydrolysis of uranium hexafluoride.
