Expert system for cost-effective energy efficiency calculations
The fields of engineering and construction management need to overcome their fear of change and innovation, and accept the potential benefits of new technology. Profitability and productivity could increase with the help of expert systems that make information management and decision-making easier. In 1992, ENEXP, a prototype knowledge-based system was developed at Florida International University for the evaluation of energy calculation forms. With increased environmental awareness and knowledge of the scarcity of natural resources, we need to seriously evaluate the decisions made on a daily basis in building construction. Programs such as this save design time and provide expert advice on the selection of materials. 2 refs., 1 fig.
