A NEGATIVE HYDROGEN ION INJECTOR FOR A TANDEM ELECTROSTATIC ACCELERATOR

Journal Article · · Nuclear Instr. & Methods

A brief description is given of the source and accelerating system to be used for injection of negative ions into a tandem electrostatic accelerator. The ion sources which is of the radio frequency types yields a current of 10 ic a of negative hydrogen ions. The remainder of the system accelerates the ions under constant focusing conditions. The ion optical requirements for focusing of the first stage of the main accelerator are also discussed and compared with the performance of the injection system. (auth)
