INVESTIGATION OF THE RADIOPROTECTIVE EFFECTS OF N-PHENYL SUBSTITUTED AMIDINES OF THE BENZENE, FURAN AND THIOPHENE SERIES ON SUSPENSIONS OF ESCHERICHIA COLI IRRADIATED WITH Co*SUP 60/*gamma/ RAYS (in German)

It is shown that certain aromatic amidines cause a marked radioprotection in the case of E. coli suspensions irradiated with gamma rays. The three compounds tested are: the N-pherylamidine of pyromucic acid ( alpha FA). N-phenylbenzamidine (NPA), and the N-phenlyamidine of thiophene-2-carbonic acid ( alpha TA). It is noteworthy that alpha FA, which exerts a radioprotective effect on E. coli was found to be a radiosensitizer for S. aureus. (tr-auth)
