THE HARWELL NEUTRON PROJECT

Journal Article · · New Scientist
OSTI ID:4249792
The Harwell Neutron Project is a laboratory designed specifically for very accurate time-of-flight measurements of neutron cross section. Neutrons are generated in pulses instead of being gcnerated continuously and subsequently chopped into pulses. Short bursts of electrons are produced with a travelling wave linear accelerator and allowed to fall on a heavy turget where neutrons are produced by photofission. (W.D.M.)
