The radioactive isotopes strontium-89 and strontium90 are determined in a wide variety of environmental samples. Strontium-90 is determined by beta- counting the daughter activity, yttrium-90, after extraction into 2- thenoyltrifluoroacetone resgent. Total radioactive strontium is determined by beta-counting a strontium carbonate precipitate. The method includes procedures for treating different types of material and removing common interferences. (auth)
