ELECTRONICS FOR RADIATION DETECTION. 2. PULSE COUNTING

Journal Article · · Nuclear Power
OSTI ID:4246253
The characteristics and applications of pulse counting systems are summarized. Ratemeters using trigger circults or diode pumps, binary scalers (including transistor circuits with inductance and ferrite core memories), binary coded decimal scalers, and ring scalers employing cold cathode tubes of multi- junction semiconductor devices are covered. The principles of dekatron circuits, a type using one drive translator, and a thermionic scaling tube employing a ribbon beam are discussed. A survey is given of the uses of the trochotron and a circuit for a magnetic scaler using a ferrite core driven by transistors. (W.D.M.)
