DIFFUSION OF RUTHENIUM IN SINGLE CRYSTALS OF SILVER

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D

The diffusion coefficient of ruthenium in monocrystalline silver has been measured over the temperature range 793 to 945 deg C, using Ru/sup 103/ and Ru/sup 106/ tracers, and a sectioning technique. The results may be expressed by in Arrhenius relation as D = (180 plus or minus 70) expSTA-- (65,800 plus or minus 1000)/RT! cm/sup 2//sec. the present result is consistent with earlier theoretical models, unlike the results obtained by Mackliet for Fe in Cu.
