THE DIFFUSION COOLING EFFECT IN HEAVY WATER

In an attempt to flnd the diffusion parameters of heavy water using the pulsed neutron method, some results on the diffusion cooling coefficient were obtained. Diffusion constants found for pure D/sub 2/O from bucklings for two geometries were 1.74 sintering time 0.06 and 1.80 sintering time 0.08. From this, a diffusion cooling coefficient of (4.8 sintering time 1.0) x 10/sup 5/ cm/sec was calculated using the relation D = DD -- (c -- d) B/sup 2/. (T.R.H.)
