MEASUREMENT OF THE DIFFUSION PARAMETERS OF GRAPHITE (in French)

Journal Article · · J. Nucl. Energy, Pt. A ; B
The diffusion parameters in graphite were measured by the pulsed neutron source technique. A 150-kev accelerator utilizing the T(d,n) reaction was used as the pulsed source of neutrons. The buckling coefficients and neutron decay constant were given for 23 graphite samples of different dimensions. The results obtained for graphite of density 1.619 at 20 deg C were diffusion constant (216.6 plus or minus 3) x 10/sup 3/ cm/sup 2/ sec/sup -1/, diffusion cooling coefficient (37.9 plus or minus 4) x 10 /sup 5/ cm/sup 4/ sec/sup -1/, and transport mean free path (2.65 plus or minus 0.04) cm.
