DEPOLARIZATION OF $mu$$sup -$-MESONS IN $mu$-MESIC ATOM FORMATION
For not very highly excited states the level width in mu -mesic atoms is considerably smaller than the distance between fine structure levels. Spin orbit interaction should therefore lead to considerable depolarization of mu / sup -/ mesons involved in the formation of mu -mesic atoms. The magnitude of this effect is estimated. The influenee of hyperfine splitting of the mu -mesic atom ground state on the angular distribution of neutrons created ln the eapture of mu /sup -/ mesons by nuclei is also considered. (auth)
