BACKGROUND DUTCH INTERESTS IN NUCLEAR SHIP PROPULSION

A survey is presented of the background of present thinking on nuclear propulsion of merchant vessels in the Netherlands. An estimate of the amount of money involved in the replacement of Dutch ships around 1965 is made. The reasons are discussed for considering nuclear shipbuilding and choosing the pressurized water reactor for study. (W.D.M.)
