THE DETERMINATION OF SULPHUR IN MIXTURES OF SODIUM, POTASSIUM AND MAGNESIUM CHLORIDES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4241876
The method depends on the wet reduction of sulfur compounds by a mixture of hydriodic and hypophosphorus acids. The resulting hydrogen sulfide is distilled into zinc acetate solution and reacted in the presence of ferric chloride to produce the destuff Lauth Violet. The absorbancy of the destuff solution is measured at 595 m mu on a spectrophotometer or on a Speaker absorptiometer using Word Filters No. 606. (auth)
