THE DETERMINATION OF NIOBIUM IN BISMUTH BASE ALLOYS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4241273
The method is based on the reaction of niobium with thiocyanic acid in 4 M hydrochloric acid and 0.5 M tartaric acid medium, after the removal of bismuth as the bromide by volatilization. The complex is extracted with ether, and the solution is stabilized with acetone. Its absorption is measured at 385 m mu in a spectrophotometer. At a level of 4 ppm, the coefficient of variation is better than 3%. (auth)
