CONTROL-ROD DRIVE MECHANISM FOR THE ARGONNE LOW POWER REACTOR

Journal Article · · Chem. Eng. Progr. 55 Symposium ser.
OSTI ID:4240653
The control-rod drive mechanism for the Angonne Low Power Reactor is a rack-and-pinion type that operates in contact with the primary reactor fluid. The mechanism is located above the reactor, with the pinion drive shaft extending through a pressurebreakdown, collected-leakage seal. It is coupled io appropriate clutches, gears, and drive motor for actuation. The characteristics of the drive mecharism and its design, development, and testing are described. (auth)
