The vector polarization of deuterons produced in the p + p yields d + pi /sup +/ reaction was measured for 670-Mev protons at angles of 121 deg , 140 deg 30', and 162 deg in the c.m.s. The amplitude of the non-resonance /sup 1/S/ sub o/ yields /sup 3/S/sub 1/ p/sub o/ p transition was determined. The contribution of this transition to the total cross section is approximately 1%. The measured angular dependence of the deuteron vector polarization is not inconsistent with the assumption that the transition amplitudes from initial /sup 3/F/sub 2/ and /sup 3/F /sub 3/ states of two protons are zero.
