COMPLEXOMETRIC TITRATIONS (CHELATOMETRY). XLIII. MASKING OF DIVALENT METALS WITH O-PHENANTHROLIN. SELECTIVE DETERMINATION OF LEAD AND ALUMINUM (in German)

In acid medium, o-phenanthroline foruns complexes with divalent cations of Cd, Zn, Co, Ni, and Mn stronger than those with EDTA. But o-phenanthroline almost does not react with cations of some trivalent elements, the rare earths, and the Pb/sup 2+/ ion. This behavior was used for a highly selective complexometric determination of Pb and an indirect determination of Al in the presence of the above elements. (tr-auth)
