THE DETERMINATION OF THORIA IN MONAZITE SAND

>The thorium is extracted with sulfuric acid and after double precipitation as iodate, the metal is precipitated as oxalate using oxalic acid. The filtered precipitate is ignited and weighed as ThO/sub 2/. The residue after the extraction with sulfuric acid is fused with potassium bisulfate and is treated in a similar manner. (auth)
