CAPTURE GAMMA RAYS FROM O$sup 15$ AND O$sup 16$ IN THE REGION OF THE GIANT RESONANCE

Measurements of the 90 deg yield ground-state beta rays resulting from the capture of protons into the giant resonance region of 0/sup 15/ and O/ sup 16/ were made using the Princeton FM cyclotron. Measurements were made at 29 proton energies between 9.5 to 15 Mev for the reaction N/sup 15/(p, gamma )O/sup 16/. The results show two large resonnnces peaked at 21.8 and 24.7 Mev. The experimental arrangement used to study the N/sup 14/(p, gamma )O/sup 15/ was similar but the results were quite dissimallar. (W.D.M.)
