EFFECTS OF RARE METALS ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF IRON-ALUMINUM ALLOYS (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Metalloved. i Termichesk. Obrabotka Metal.
OSTI ID:4230223
Studies were made of the effects of small admixtures of Ce, B, Mo, Nb, Ta, Ti, V, and Zr on the mechanical propenties of Fe--Al alloys (16 wt.% Al). The presence of oxygen was the most harmful, causing fragility. Induction melting in crucibles in a helium atmosphere considerably improves mechanical properties. The investigated alloys have high corrosion resistance at 1200 deg in atmosphere. (R.V.J.)
