LOW-ENERGY CAPTURE GAMMA RAYS OF Eu$sup 152$ AND Eu$sup 15$$sup 4$

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
The low-energy capture gamma-ray spectra of Eu/sup 152/ aud Eu/sup 154/ were examined up to an energy of 300 kev by the use of a scintillation spectrometer. Eu/sup 152/ was found to exhibit gamma lines at 81 plus or minus 4 kev and 92 plus or minus 3 kev while Eu/sup 154/ exhibited gamma lines at 75 plus or minus 3 kev and 91 plus or minus 3 kev. Coincidence measurements were made on a composite spectrum produced by thermal neutron capture in natural Eu/ sup 152/. The data are consistent with the interpretation that the Eu/sup 154/ lines are members of a rotational band while the Eu/sup 152/ lines are not. (auth)
