DECAY OF Eu$sup 15$$sup 2$

Journal Article · · Physica

The decay of mass-spectrometrically enriched Eu/sup 152/ was studied using a Siegbahn-Slatis beta ray spectrometer, a scintillation spectrometer, and a gamma-gamma coincidence device. From the analysis of the beta spectrum alpha / sub K/ of the 344 kev gamma radiation is found to be 0.033 plus or minus 0.001. A low energy beta group- with an end point at 417 kev was found, and to flt this to the decay scheme it has been suggested that there is a 1415 kev level in Gd/ sup 152/ which decays entirely by an emission of a 1415 kev gamma ray. The alpha /sub K/, K/L, and L/M values of the 122 kev gamma ray in Sm/sup, 152/ are compared with the theoretical values of Rose based on finite nuclear size. (auth)
